Buzz Kaplan to the Poles! Steele County Historical Society Announces February History Detectives and Jr. History Detectives

The Steele County Historical Society (SCHS) invites you to join us for Jr. History Detectives and History Detectives, interactive children’s programming for Pre-K and grades K-6 on Thursday, February 2nd at 9:00 AM and at 6:30 PM at the Steele County History Center, 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna.  The program is FREE and open to all members of the community.

February programming will highlight Buzz Kaplan to the Poles!  Buzz Kaplan is one of the most famous people from Steele County. Children will experience Buzz’s trip to Antarcca and Greenland, and experience the planning that goes into such a trip as well as an understanding of the use of airplanes in our modern world.

Jr 8ycipvo. History Detectives will meet at 9:00 AM and is open to Pre-K children in Steele County.  History Detectives will meet at 6:30 PM and is open to all children grades K-6 in Steele County.

These FREE children’s programs are offered on the first Thursday of each month. The Children’s Education Committee is currently in the planning stages for 2017.  Watch for more information on March’s topic, 1917 Fun Day, which will be held on March 2nd.

The History Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Thursdays from 10:00 AM  until 8:00 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Admission to the History Center is free for SCHS members, $5 for adults, $3 for children 7-16, and children 6 and under are FREE. For more information, please call our office at 507-451-1420.
